It’s a poignant story about love and life and how fleeting they are.

This is one of those movies that you think it’ll take a while to get going…only it never does. That’s not to say it’s a bad thing though.

Honestly, I thought it started off excruciatingly slow. But once I let go of preconceived notions that anything should happen, I found myself engrossed in the simplicity of Jun-won’s, the main character’s, life.

This film is beautiful in its simplicity. And yes I just called it a film instead of movie. Because it’s just that artistic. It definitely feels like it’s meant to relay a message as opposed to just entertain. [Read more…]

Every Christmas I watch certain movies because it puts me in the season’s spirit. I usually watch the first “Harry Potter” and “A Christmas Carol,” just to name a couple. But I wanted to add some Korean movies to the mix this year.

So this year, I watched “The Tower.” Yes it came out back in 2012 but I’m only just finding it now. It stars Sol Kyung Gu, Kim Sang Kyung, and Son Yejin.

There may be spoilers in this post. So if you really want to be left in the dark, just know it’s a good movie and don’t read on. [Read more…]

Which is More Correct - South Korea, Republic of Korea or Korea_Clearing Up Korean Confusion

So I had a friend ask me what was more proper to say, South Korea, Republic of Korea, or Korea?

In short, the official term is Republic of Korea (R.O.K.).

However, most people outside of the R.O.K. refer to South Korea as “Korea” and North Korea as “North Korea.”

Since I’m one of those people living outside of the R.O.K., in my ignorance, I refer to it as “Korea.” But I really should refer to it as South Korea or the Republic of Korea. There’s weight and meaning behind calling it “South Korea” or the “Republic of Korea.” [Read more…]

In addition to national holidays, South Koreans like to celebrate unofficial holidays every 14th of every month.

It started with Valentine’s Day every 14th of February. But that wasn’t enough and so every month now has some sort-of reiteration. [Read more…]

Pucca is a South Korean animated cartoon little girl. (Just in case you landed here out of sheer curiosity.)

She’s tough and sweet and even has a ninja boyfriend, albeit he’s reluctantly so.

I first found out about Pucca because she was on some colored pens. It appears that’s how many people find out about her. Because she’s on everything from pens to sunscreen!

Pucca’s life is action packed, as most cartoons are, and is animated adorably.

And even though Pucca never hit it big, she’s made a lasting impression on many, including myself!

If you know someone who’s a Pucca fan, they’re going to flip over these gifts! [Read more…]
