Today, I’m going to give you the recipe for easy and delicious Korean-style pork chops. Yum!

Growing up, we ate a lot of pork. I can’t recall if it was just cheaper than other meats or if it was just my parent’s preferences. In any case, I remember having pork in a variety of ways. But you know what? I didn’t like it!

Sure, we had the occasional bacon which I loved. But who doesn’t love bacon?

That wasn’t the usual way my mom made pork. She usually made bossam (boiled pork wraps). I’ll try my hand at that dish another time.

But today, this pork dish is pan fried to get that beautiful caramel brown and roasted until fully cooked (if necessary). It’s going to be juicy and tender! [Read more…]

What is Korean egg bread – Gyeran-‘Ppang (게랑빵)?

It’s a popular street food in Seoul. Thus it’s cheap and oh-so yummy!

Korean egg bread is a small loaf of bread (duh), that has a whole egg cooked inside. It’s typically sweet and spongy. Although it’s not cloyingly sweet. So you can eat a ton of these and not get sugared out. 😉 [Read more…]

Make Ahead Slow Cooked Korean BeefBusy Days Call for Slow Cooker Meals

Is it just me or does it seem like once October rolls around, the schedule gets insanely busy. Just when you feel like you’ve gotten in the groove with back to school (whether for yourself or the kids), then Halloween hits. Then you turn the corner and bam it’s the holidays.

Well, that time of the year is upon us. The weather is getting cooler and schedules are getting tighter. That’s when I turn to my trusty ole slow cooker. (It’s too friggin’ hot in the summer.)

When I was a kid, I always thought it was weird to cook meat all day. I was like ‘uh, is that sanitary?’ (Yeah, I was uptight even back then.)

But now I love the slow cooker! I dump the ingredients in there in the morning and let it slow cook until dinner time. [Read more…]

Easy Recipe for Pajeon (Korean Green Onion Pancake)

Easy Recipe for Pajeon (Korean Pancakes) Here is an Easy Recipe for Pajeon (Korean Green Onion Pancake)

Okay I admit it. I don’t actually cook much.

My cooking style has been described as “reheating” as opposed to “cooking.”

Don’t judge! I know I’m not alone in letting my microwave do the “cooking.” 😉

Furthermore, I hate to waste. How many times have you followed some complicated recipe only to have a bunch of left over ingredients you didn’t know what to do with afterwards?

But don’t get me wrong. I do actually like to cook. Since I’m usually too short on time to cook anything complicated I like simple recipes. I like recipes that generally fulfill three criteria:

First, it must have a minimal number of ingredients. Waste not, want not!

Second, it must require minimal prep time. Although I love Korean food, the prep time for a lot of things is ridiculous!

And third, the ingredients required must be easy to acquire.

This easy recipe for pajeon meets all three criteria. When I say this is an “easy” recipe, I mean it!

You probably have the ingredients for pajeon already in the fridge and pantry.  So you don’t have to make a special trip to the store for it. Although you might need to have a clean bowl or two. 😆 [Read more…]
