Cooking Time and Money Saver Tip – Premade Korean BBQ Meat Marinade
It’s Food Friday again. It’s going to be a busy weekend (kid’s Halloween parade and such going on) so I’m going to talk about what kind of Korean food you can make on the fly and on the cheap.
Let’s talk about Korean BBQ! Who doesn’t love Korean BBQ? 😋 Well, did you know that you can get the flavor in a jar?
It’s a Huge Time Saver
If you’re short on time (and even if you’re not), using an instant Korean BBQ meat marinade is a great time saver. I always have a red meat marinade and a white meat marinade in the pantry. Even though I think a home made Korean marinade tastes the best, it’s seriously labor intensive. (At least, the really good ones are.)
It’s Significantly Cheaper Than Eating at a Korean Restaurant
Can we please just admit how expensive Korean restaurant food can be?? I know I just said that it’s labor intensive so for that reason alone it’s totally worth it. However, I don’t want to and can’t spend that much money on a weekly basis.
Also, I don’t feel like smelling of smokey BBQ for three days after. If you’ve ever had Korean BBQ grilled at your table then you should know what I mean.
That’s the beauty of the premade Korean BBQ meat marinades. You can have your Korean BBQ without the price tag and without smelling like you’ve been sitting in a BBQ shvitz.
Unfortunately, banchan (i.e. side dishes) is not included. 😉
Where or How You Can Get It
I’ve seen it at my local grocery store. But if you can’t find it there or anywhere else near you (i.e. Trader Joe’s, Fresh Market, etc.), it’s on Amazon (because they have EVERYTHING).
There was a time in my life when I lived in the middle of nowhere. There were no Asian grocery stores and no Asian restaurants, except for one Chinese restaurant, for many miles around. Well on a visit home to DC, I spotted this bulgogi marinade on the shelf at the local Korean grocery.
When I returned to the middle of nowhere, I searched for the marinade online with low expectations. But to my pleasant surprise, some random grocery store (that no longer exists – probably because of too much competition now) had it available for order online. I was practically salivating as I put in my order.
Like I said earlier, it’s not the same as at the restaurant but it’ll more than do in a pinch. Korean BBQ meat without the labor and price tag? Yes, please!
